Local bourse edges higher

The JSE All-Share index traded firmer throughout the day but only manage to close 0.26% higher by the market close, while the blue-chip JSE Top-40 index gained 0.20%. The Industrial index edged lower with -0.06%, while the Financials and Resources indices coming in much stronger by 1.05% and 0.03% respectively.

The rand strengthened throughout the trading session to the Dollar (USD) as the greenback weekend from its session highs. At 17:00 CAT, the rand was trading 0.12% firmer at R13.15/$

On the JSE top movers list we saw Lonmin [JSE:LON] was amongst the day’s biggest movers closing 4.48% higher at R7.07 per share. Sibanye Gold [JSE:SGL] locked in some gains and moved higher by 6.21% to close at R 7.87 per share. ArcelorMittal SA Limited [JSE:ACL] added 6.00% to close the day at R 3.18 per share.

Raubex [JSE:RBX] was under pressure today and closed 5.70% lower at R 19.85 per share while Tradehold [JSE:TDH] also closed 2.53% lower to close at R13.50 per share. EOH Holdings [JSE:EOH] was down 2.30% to close at R 40.30 per share.

Brent crude traded firmer throughout the day to reach a session high of $ 75.27/ barrel just after the JSE close.

Looking at the precious metals as at 17:00, Gold was lower -0.16% to trade at $1224.50/Oz while Platinum was unchanged to trade at $831.00/Oz. Palladium was up 0.53% to trade at $930.22/Oz.

Bitcoin traded weaker on the day by -0.83% to trade at $ 8160/coin while Ethereum was also down by -1.41 % to trade at $460.08/coin.
